Book Review – American Dirt

American Dirt is one of the best books I’ve read in a while. While the book has received its share of criticism for being stereotypical, opportunistic and lacking authenticity, I found it to be eye-opening and entertaining. Jeanine Cummins relates the story of Lydia and her son who are in a desperate race to get away from a vengeful cartel leader and cross the border from Mexico into the States. The cartel leader has already killed sixteen of Lydia’s family members, including her reporter husband. It leads to a compelling read that alternates between fear and hope while offering the reader some timely insight into the plight of migrants. The writing style is imaginative and interesting. American Dirt is an entertaining work of fiction that tells a story that needs to be told. I highly recommend it.

Book Review – A Year In The Life Of Leah Brand

Lucinda Clarke has created a psychological thriller that will make the hair on the back of your neck stand at attention. As if Leah Brand doesn’t have enough problems with the death of her family, a spoiled stepdaughter and a husband who doesn’t seem to care, weird things start to happen in her house. It’s enough to make anyone question their sanity. The reader will wonder whether her family is responsible for the things that are happening or if there is some other malevolent force at play. A Year In The Life Of Leah Brand is a well written psychological thriller with characters that tug at your emotions.

Covid Book Launch

After a number of technical glitches, it was great to have the opportunity to launch my book, The Burden of Darkness, virtually during this covid era.

Cover Reveal

We’re getting closer to the launch of my new book, The Burden of Darkness, so I thought it was time to reveal the cover and blurb. Here they are! Watch for the presale of the book to start soon.

Nathan Harris is in the fight of his life. Tormented by flashbacks, it’s all the former FBI Agent can do to get through a day, let alone focus on his marriage to Marcie Kane. Counseling helps but is it enough to help him regain some semblance of normalcy? After already losing so much, he desperately needs a win. What he doesn’t need is a sadistic monster targeting innocent people, including someone close to him.

Owen Strand has nothing to lose. Handed a death sentence by his physician, sued by his partner and fired from his job, he’s spiraling out of control and out for blood. Armed with a list of everyone who has ever wronged him, he travels around North America, picking off his enemies one by one.

A Milestone

It was gratifying today to receive the 150th review on Amazon for The Vanishing Wife and even more so that it was five stars. These days, any good news is great news.

Something to take your mind off…

In this stressful time we’re all experiencing, I thought you might welcome a distraction. We’re all looking for things to do while we physically distance ourselves from colleagues, friends and even family. At least, we get to stay in touch through the magic of technology. Imagine if we didn’t have that!

I’m filling in time by reading, practicing guitar, working out at home… Okay, I did most of those things before, but I’m spending longer at each one now. If this goes on long enough, I might even have to clean up my workshop!
